It’s Stashin’ with Stephanie time again! This month’s new fat quarter friendly pattern is inspired by this month’s featured fabric, Delilah by Esther Fallon Lau for Clothworks.

I fell in love with fashion backpacks when my family took a week-long trip to Chicago this summer. I knew I needed something to carry everything while having my hands free, so I picked up a small backpack from Target and was so glad I did.

I am in love with this month’s Stashin’ with Stephanie fabric, Love Struck by Clea Broad for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics. 

This is the first time we’ve featured Paintbrush Studio for our Stashin’ with Stephanie collection. The colors are soft and calming and the abstract modern prints look great together. The fabric also feels very soft and silky. It is lovely to sew with.

I designed Zig Zag, this month’s pattern, to show off all of the prints and separate the light values from the background for a clearly defined block.

Twinkle is one of my favorite patterns in my best-selling book Fat Quarter Workshop. It is a large scale block that features two colliding stars.

The design of the block makes it great for fabric collections that have a lot of low volume neutrals that don’t offer a lot of value contrast with the background. We use them in the center of the block and the darker fabrics as the star points to clearly define the block and all all the fabrics to shine.
